About the Event
This exhibition follows a gap of more than two and a half years from our last journey into landscapes and gardens with Louis at the gallery in February, 2024. A sell-out show, by one of Rye’s most distinguished and popular local artists. The new show takes a fresh look at the long-term obsession Louis has had with Great Dixter, mostly reflecting on familiar subjects with his compositions of exactly arranged colours, where a precise corner of a highly managed yet deliberately exuberant garden such as Great Dixter provides the creative influence.
However, expect to be surprised too - because this show deals with seasons at Dixter and the impact on the gardens through winter, spring summer and autumn in a bold, colourful but careful consideration of place, creating what is a natural, yet emotional, full life cycle of the garden.
